It's tough to run a small business in San Francisco. It's even tougher for many under-resourced, immigrant, and Black entrepreneurs.

We asked hundreds of small business owners across the city – in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Spanish, and Arabic – to share their stories, struggles, and greatest challenges.

In 2025, we're scaling this work to respond to a challenging climate ahead. We need your help:

🗣️ $50 provides 30 minutes of interpretation & translation services

☎️ $100 unlocks an hour of helpline support for small businesses

🤝 $500 funds neighborhood outreach and on-site help

💸 $1,000 offsets online processing fees for faster & easier payments to businesses

Requirements to make a QCD include:

    • The funds must be transferred directly from the IRA custodian to SF New Deal.

    • QCDs are limited to the amount that would otherwise be taxed as ordinary income. This excludes non-deductible contributions.

    • The maximum annual amount that can qualify for a QCD is $100,000.

    • For a QCD to count towards your current year's RMD, the funds must come out of your IRA by your RMD deadline, generally December 31
