Introducing: Bricks at Embarcadero Plaza - A New Cultural Hub for San Francisco

Mark your calendars! It’s time to spend Summer ‘24 on the Bricks at Embarcadero Plaza.

Starting August 7th, Embarcadero Plaza will transform into a center of activity and culture with the launch of Bricks at Embarcadero Plaza. This 12-week pilot program will run through the end of October, offering a sneak peek into potential long-term activations that promise to make the plaza a key destination for locals, commuters, and tourists alike.

Bricks at Embarcadero Plaza is designed to test a variety of programming concepts that celebrate diversity and community. Every week, the plaza will host an array of events including:

🤓 trivia nights

🪩 dance gatherings

🫶 social mixers and

☀️ family-friendly activities

We are proud to partner with notable organizations such as the Children's Creativity Museum, SF Port, SF Gaymers, Jaffe Events, Back Lit Media, and Golden Gate Toastmasters Club. Plus, keep an eye out for more partners to be announced as the program gains momentum!

In addition to enriching this often overlooked space, Bricks at Embarcadero Plaza is set to boost the local economy. Osha Thai, located in the Embarcadero Center, will provide an array of delicious food and beverage options. Additional culinary delights will be available from a selection of nearby businesses, many of which have recently committed to long-term leases in downtown San Francisco as part of the Vacant to Vibrant initiative led by SF New Deal and the Office of Economic and Workforce Development.

Through the Bricks at Embarcadero Plaza program, SF New Deal aims to spotlight under-resourced small business owners and create an inclusive space for all San Franciscans to enjoy.

More than a series of events, this program is a community-driven project supported by the Recreation and Parks Department (RPD) and funded by the Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD). This initiative represents a pivotal effort to activate Embarcadero Plaza, making it a vibrant, engaging space that draws people from all walks of life.

We invite everyone to join us at Embarcadero Plaza from August to October to experience the magic of Bricks. Whether you're a local resident, a downtown worker, or a visiting tourist, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Join us and activate, celebrate, and participate in this new cultural hub.
