Introducing the Downtown Entertainment & Nightlife Revitalization Grants (ENRG) Program

May 2024

San Francisco has long been a beacon of culture, innovation, and vibrant community life. Today, we are excited to announce a new chapter in our city's dynamic story—the launch of the Downtown Entertainment & Nightlife Revitalization Grants (ENRG) Program. This initiative is designed to breathe new life into the heart of our city, transforming Downtown San Francisco into a thriving hub for arts, culture, and entertainment.

The Downtown ENRG Program, a collaborative effort between SF New Deal and the City of San Francisco’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development and Mayor London Breed, offers up to $50,000 grants to support existing downtown businesses and arts and cultural organizations. Our goal is to launch new, recurring programming that not only entertains but also invigorates our downtown neighborhoods and draws both locals and visitors to the area.

“Nightlife and entertainment venues are vital businesses that contribute immensely to the culture and identity of San Francisco. Investing in their success is critical to fostering vibrancy in our city. Downtown ENRG is set to redefine the future of our downtown district as a diverse, creative, and vibrant destination.” said Simon Bertrang, Executive Director of SF New Deal.

Since the onset of the pandemic, our city’s nightlife and entertainment venues have faced unprecedented challenges. The ENRG Program is poised to change this narrative by investing in the recovery and success of these venues, ensuring that Downtown San Francisco remains a centerpiece of cultural and economic activity.

Applications for the ENRG Program open this Friday, May 3rd, and we encourage all eligible entities to apply early. Our program aims to fund approximately 10-20 grantees who are ready to drive evening and weekend traffic to nightlife and entertainment venues through innovative and engaging activities.
